What is Intro
to Yoga? This class is designed to take a new student through
the basics of yoga, introducing one to the principles of a sound practice. The
whole body is addressed in a yoga class; you will learn to strengthen and
stretch and breathe throughout all your body systems (muscular, skeletal,
circular, glandular, nervous, etc.) Since the body is a network of systems all
relating to each other; addressing one area of the body can most definitely
affect another area. For example, a lower back issue might be traced to a neck
imbalance; or knee pain could be caused by stiffness in the hips.
What do I need
to take a yoga class?
Wear shorts or leggings and a T-shirt. Come with an open mind, an empty stomach
and bare feet. We supply the rest.
Who is this
class designed for? For the first time yoga student or those
continuing students looking for a gentle, easy-paced class.
What to expect. Postures and exercises are created to
help you become more aware in your own body. Take charge of yourself. Learn
what you can do to ease your own
chronic misalignment and discomfort or improve your personal abilities and
quality of life. The principles you learn for proper alignment and biomechanics
of movement are repeated throughout the series. Remember, repetition is your
best teacher, and “practice, practice, practice” is your best mantra.
If you are recently recovering from an injury
please include a doctor’s signed permission slip with your registration form.
Please explain to your instructor about any physical issues, medication, recent
surgeries, or if you are pregnant or menstruating.
Classes are subject to cancellation due to
insufficient registration; you will be notified in case of cancellation.
